You are viewing Hybrid Tea Rose Bushes

To keep insect pests off your rose bushes, try companion planting with garlic. And once per week, while watering your rose bushes, mix some dishwashing soap into the water and apply this "insecticidal soap" to your bushes (of course, there are also true insecticidal soaps that you can buy).

Just like people, roses need a few basic things to live: water, food and the right place to set down roots. How well your roses grow depends entirely on the quantity and quality of those three ingredients.

Just remember the three basic ingredients that roses need: water, food and good soil. And pay attention to your roses -- you'll soon recognize when they are in need of something, and experience will help you figure out what that "something" is. Don't worry, this isn't rocket science -- it's fun!

All roses are potted in 3 gallon nursery pots @ $19.95 per pot.

We accept special orders for rose bushes. Pricing on special order rose bushes determined on an individual basis.

Hybrid Tea roses are hardy with protection. We recommend they be wrapped in burlap in the fall. Do not plant your hybrid tea roses in exposed areas.

Climbing Rose Bushes are hardy.

Planting your Roses:

Soil (earth):

  • Roses prefer a soil pH ranging from 6.5 to 6.8.
  • Soils with good drainage are best for rose growing. When improving the soil through the use of soil amendments, don't forget to promote drainage by incorporating peat moss.

Irrigation (water):

  • Watering requirements depend greatly on conditions. But on the average, it is best towater rose bushes twice a week -- and to water them thoroughly. A regimen of two deep waterings per week is preferable to four shallower, less thorough waterings.
  • Avoid late-evening watering, which could foster powdery mildew. Powdery mildew is a very common disease among roses.

Spacing (air)

  • Rose growing in conditions where adequate spacing is not provided can foster powdery mildew, as well. Let your roses breathe: don't plant them too closely together. Follow spacing requirements for each particular variety when purchasing rose bushes, as indicated on the plant label.

Sun (fire):

  • Roses like six hours of sun per day
  • Six hours of morning sun is preferable to six hours of afternoon sun.
  • The afternoon sun is often excessively hot. Roses profit from some afternoon shade.
